The State Banqueting Hall is the venue for solemn diplomatic receptions, with a capacity of over 100 guests. This space was once used to welcome heads of state and diplomatic delegations, and was the setting for important events of the Republic of Vietnam.

On October 31, 1967, this room hosted the inauguration party for President Nguyễn Văn Thiệu and Vice President Nguyễn Cao Kỳ, marking the transfer of power following the first presidential election of the Second Republic.

On the evening of March 1, 1975, the last banquet hosted by President Nguyễn Văn Thiệu took place here, in honor of a US Congressional delegation that came to Saigon to assess the situation before deciding whether to continue aid to the Government of the Republic of Vietnam.

The room’s space features a dominant yellow color, creating a warm, solemn atmosphere, fitting for diplomatic entertainment.

A prominent feature of the room is a seven-panel oil painting, composed and gifted by architect Ngô Viết Thụ—the designer of the Independence Palace—on the occasion of the Palace’s inauguration. The painting is inspired by the two Han-Chinese verses “Cẩm tú sơn hà, thái bình thảo mộc” (Brocade land and mountains, peaceful grass and trees), evoking the image of a unified Vietnam.
