This room was used for meetings between the President, his generals, and US military advisers.
The walls were hung with maps, especially those depicting the war in South Vietnam.
At 9:30 am on 25 March 1975, faced with the advance of the liberation forces, President Nguyen Van Thieu ordered Lieutenant General Ngo Quang Truong, commander of I Corps, to withdraw from Hue and make a final stand at Da Nang.
In response to that situation, US President Gerald Ford dispatched a delegation led by General Frederick C. Weyand, Chief of Staff of the US Army, to assess the situation. On 3 April 1975, the delegation met here with President Thieu and his generals in a last attempt to salvage the military position in South Vietnam.
